Cambridge-South Dorchester Students Participate in MBRT’s Youth Congress Day

 

Fifteen Cambridge-South Dorchester High School students, all part of the Next Generation Scholars program, were among the 100 Maryland high school students participating in the Maryland Business Roundtable for Education’s first Youth Congress Day in Annapolis on January 21.

The day included observing a session of the General Assembly, a tour of the State House, and a luncheon at which Matt Lawrence, former Baltimore Raven and co-founder of Lawrence International, was keynote speaker. C-SD freshman Rip Cornish was invited to give the invocation and benediction at the luncheon and was also part of a smaller group of attendees selected to participate in a legislative briefing about Maryland’s Next Generation Scholars program.

Those students attending from C-SD were: Kamri Barnett, Rikia Cornish, Rip Cornish, Nehemiah Davis, Anaiya Evans, Jahkai Hall, Sa’Shea Jones, Ke’Myra Jones, Emilia Kenny, Kortney Manokey, TyNaja McKnight, Ira Nichols, Kei’Nizijah Stafford, Sha’niya Stevenson, and Z’niya Stevenson. Ms. Lauri Bell is the Next Generation Scholars Coordinator for C-SD.
