NDMS Student Wins History Prize
Dylan Ruppert, an 8th grader at North Dorchester Middle School, was recently awarded a special prize at the state level of the Maryland History Day competition.
His winning paper, “Austrian Resistance to Nazi Occupation: How the Political Barriers of Their Time Were Broken”, won the special prize in the Peace, Non-Violence and Justice category. Dylan had won a first-place award in the regional Maryland History Day competition earlier in the year to qualify for the state contest.
Not just a budding historian, Dylan also qualified for the state level of the National Geographic GeoBee that was to be held this spring but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. His social studies teacher at North Dorchester Middle School is Mark Lowrie.
