Dorchester County Public Schools Celebrate Farm to School Week

Dorchester County Public Schools celebrates Farm to School Week incorporating local fresh fruits and vegetables such as corn on the cob, gala apples, fresh apple cider, squash, cucumbers, watermelon, cantaloupes, sweet potatoes, and kale into the weekly menu. The Dorchester County Public School Food Service Department has partnered with the Dorchester County Farm Bureau to provide educational materials and food tastings at several schools.

Blades Orchards will be highlighted at North Dorchester High School with sample tasting of their apple cider and homemade apple cider doughnuts.

At Hurlock Elementary School gala apples and sweet potato butter are available for sampling at lunch.

Cambridge-South Dorchester High School will enjoy baked sweet potatoes and learned how sweet potatoes are sized for packaging with displays from the Dorchester County Farm Bureau.

Wings Landing Farm supplying corn on the cob

Bartenfelder Farm supplying kale, squash, and cucumbers 

Blades Orchard supplying apple cider and apple cider doughnuts

Humphries Farm supplying sweet potatoes

Reid Farm supplying watermelon

Lovett Produce supplying sweet potatoes

Chicone Farms supplying sweet potato butter
