RYLA Delegates Speak to Rotary Club

RYLA Delegates Speak to Rotary Club

Dorchester County high school students who attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference recently returned to a Rotary Club of Cambridge luncheon to report on their experiences.

RYLA delegates Cambridge-South Dorchester High School juniors SaShea Jones, Khloe Kues, Chloe Trinh, and KeMyra Jones joined North Dorchester High School juniors Hallie Bennett, Brooke Brohawn, and Megan Harp to address the meeting regarding the Ocean City’s conference activities. The conference centered around leadership training, helping those attending discover their strengths and improve their weaknesses. The weekend’s main project was to create a community service plan which can be implemented at their school and present it to the other delegates. They also packed meals for Rise Against Hunger and participated in team-building activities. Maddie Levy from C-SDHS and Daveion Pittman from NDHS also attended the conference but were unable to attend the Rotary luncheon.

Forty Rotary Clubs from Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland, including the Cambridge club, sponsored the delegates to allow them to attend the conference at no cost in the hope that they will learn the skills and receive the inspiration to improve their schools and communities.
