About Us - SHES

 Virtual Conferencing and Instructional Agreement -SHES

Sandy Hill Elementary is located in the city of Cambridge, Maryland. Cambridge is located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, about 45 minutes from Ocean City. For the 2019-2020 school year, Sandy Hill serves approximately 410 pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. The school employs a principal, an assistant principal, a guidance counselor, an LCSW-c, a community liaison (LCSW-c), two literacy coaches, a math coach, an intervention teacher, a dean of students, a nurse, four special educators, a speech/language pathologist, a school psychologist, a media specialist, an art teacher, a music teacher, a physical education teacher, a technology teacher, twenty-seven regular classroom teachers, an educational specialist, thirteen instructional assistants, two HPMs, a full and part time secretary, four cafeteria staff, and four custodians.  

Sandy Hill Elementary has a partnership with the Judy Center, a preschool resource center serving birth to five year old children and their families.  Sandy Hill has an active School Improvement Team, Discipline Committee, Faculty Council, Student Success Team, Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Additionally, Sandy Hill Elementary is a Professional Development school in conjunction with Salisbury University and Chesapeake College. Sandy Hill’s site coordinator works closely with student interns and candidates as well as their school’s liaison to ensure a successful teaching experience.

Our Mission

The mission of Sandy Hill Elementary School is to provide all students with a strong academic foundation and empower students to be resilient and act responsibly to ensure success in middle school and beyond.  Partnering with our parents and community, this will be accomplished by implementing a multi-tiered system of supports to address the academic and social/emotional needs of all students.  We will deliver high-quality instruction tailored to meet individual needs, practice mindfulness, restorative practices and reinforce positive actions and behaviors so ALL students can BEE the BEST they can BEE!
