Sandy Hill Elementary is located in the city of Cambridge, Maryland. Cambridge is located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, about 45 minutes from Ocean City. For the 2016-17 school year, Sandy Hill serves approximately 450 pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. The school employs a Principal, an Assistant Principal, two guidance counselors, a LCSW-c, a Family and Student Liaison, a literacy/interventionist, a reading coach, a professional development teacher/math coach, nurse, five special educators, a speech/language teacher and assistant, a media specialist, an art teacher, a music teacher, a physical education teacher, twenty-seven regular classroom teachers, eleven instructional assistants, as well as full and part time secretary.
Sandy Hill Elementary has a partnership with the Judy Center, a preschool resource center serving birth to five year old children and their families. Sandy Hill has an active School Improvement Team, Discipline Committee, Faculty Council, Student Success Team, Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports team (PBIS), Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). Additionally, Sandy Hill Elementary is a Professional Development school in conjunction with Salisbury University and Chesapeake College. Sandy Hill’s site coordinator works closely with student interns and candidates as well as their school’s liaison to ensure a successful teaching experience.
