Teacher of the Year & First-Class Teacher of the Year are now being accepted!
Students, parents, colleagues, administrators, and community members are encouraged to nominate one of the many extraordinary teachers of Dorchester County Public Schools.

First Class Teacher of the Year
All nomination forms must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
Teacher of the Year nominees must be certificated, tenured and highly qualified, full-time classroom, resource or specialist teachers who spend the majority of their time teaching. Candidates must have taught for a minimum of five years (currently in their sixth year of teaching) and must have worked for Dorchester County Public Schools for the past three years. Finalists for this year may not have served as a TOY finalist during the past three years.
Individuals nominated as First-Class Teacher of the Year must be in their first year of teaching and must be certificated, highly qualified, full-time classroom, resource or specialist teachers who spend the majority of their time teaching.
The teachers named the DCPS Teacher of the Year and First-Class Teacher of the Year will be expected to remain active teachers in Dorchester County throughout the 2023-2024 school year.
Once nominations have been received by the Office of Human Resources, finalists in the category of Teacher of the Year and First-Class Teacher of the Year will be chosen by each school’s administration. Nominations should be made without regard to age, sex, race, religion, disability, national origin, sexual orientation, or any other basis prohibited by law.
