Cambridge-South Dorchester High School is nestled in the heart of Dorchester County, Maryland, close to the majestic Chesapeake Bay and Choptank River.  It is located close to the cultural downtown center and in the county seat, Cambridge. The school is a true reflection of the growing, diverse, tight-knit community, which is very proud of its rich history.  Continually changing to keep up with the ebb and flow of rigorous educational standards, Cambridge-South Dorchester always welcomes new students and their families to join the Viking family.

The 250,000 square-foot, circular designed building, designed by Johannes & Murray & Associates, opened in the fall of 1976 and is located on 110 acres of land, also shared by the Dorchester Career & Technology Center.  Known to the local community as C-SD, the building and programs are constantly changing with the times to provide a safe, progressive environment to meet the needs of the 21st-century learner. The addition of a new vestibule at the main entrance of the building is the latest enhancement to be completed for the upcoming school year (2020-2021).

C-SD currently provides an array of academic programs to over 750 students, in grades 9-12.  Even today, C-SD houses the largest auditorium in Dorchester County, seating over thirteen-hundred audience members, for school and community events.  The auditorium houses a large orchestra pit, adjacent theatre classrooms, as well as dressing rooms.  The school's large gymnasium with an updated weight/fitness room is also utilized for many community events, with the capacity to seat 750 spectators. The athletic program at C-SD, with fifteen different sports programs, has produced top college and even a few professional athletes in its history. The school library, located in the center of the school, is the largest school library in the county and is the academic hub of C-SD with computer labs and technology accessible to all students throughout the day.
