The Dorchester County Public Schools Maryland Youth Apprenticeship program is a collaborative effort with the Maryland Department of Labor and local employers. The program is designed to provide opportunities for students to "learn while they earn". Most employers participate in the program to help grow their own workforce.
The MD Youth Apprenticeship program for 11th and 12th graders. An ideal apprenticeship candidate is a student who wants to gain experience in the workplace with plans to continue in that industry after graduation. A listing of available apprenticeship positions and employers is included on the Current Openings link. Student apprenticeship candidates complete an employment application, cover letter, and resume and interview for the desired position. After being hired, the DCPS apprenticeship coordinator provides job coaching and follow up regularly. Apprentices are responsible for arranging their own transportation.
Don’t wait, search for available positions, complete the application packet and start earning!
