On Friday, March 14, 2025, the Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Boys' Basketball team accomplished something the program had not done in 29 years — they won the Class 1A Maryland State Basketball Championship. As the only Bayside Conference team remaining in the 2024-2025 playoff brackets, they were also the first team from the Shore to win a State Championship in basketball since 2016.

The atmosphere in the University of Maryland Xfinity Center was electric as the Vikings went head-to-head in a defensive battle against The Seed School of Maryland. After a close game in the first two quarters, the Vikings went into halftime with a 2-point lead (16-14) over the Sabers. The battle continued, but the Sabers took the lead 33-30 late in the 4th quarter. With 53 seconds left on the clock, senior forward Koby Ennals knocked down a 3-point shot to tie the game at 33-33 and send the Vikings into overtime.

The score remained tied at 33 until 0.4 seconds were left on the clock in overtime, when junior guard Sterling Perkins put up a layup among several Sabers defenders and made the bucket while drawing the foul. Perkins' attempt at the free-throw line was successful, giving the Vikings a 36-33 lead. The Sabers were unable to respond before the end of overtime, and the Vikings stepped into victory while their supporters erupted with cheers and applause.

After the game, Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Principal Jerome Stover, Assistant Principals Nichole Horton and Amanda Robinson, and Athletic Director Casey O'Bier met Dorchester County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jymil Thompson on the floor to congratulate the newly victorious players and coaches and award them their championship medals and plaque. Upon their return to Cambridge and the C-SD campus, the Vikings were met by an escort provided by the Dorchester County Sheriff's Department and Cambridge Rescue Fire Company, as well as many members of the community, all of whom were eager to welcome the team back home and celebrate their championship win!
