Yesterday was a big day for C-SD students. Not only did they get to practice essential skills of mixing & mingling, introducing themselves, and shaking hands, they got to interact with real business owners and professionals in many industries. Fifty different businesses, organizations, & agencies chose to spend their morning on Thursday interacting with students and sharing information about their career pathway. Over 700 students meandered throughout the fair, and they were praised by all of our visitors for being some of the most engaged and respectful high school students. Organized by Career Coach, Sandy Shaw, it was even bigger and better than expected. With an estimated count of 138 visiting professionals, “the Career Fair couldn’t have gone any smoother”, according to Mrs. Shaw. She added, “the feedback from our visitors was overwhelmingly positive. This will make next year’s Career Fair even more successful.” C-SD wants to thank Mr. Bill Christopher, Dorchester Chamber of Commerce President, Bay Country Bakery, Dunkin Donuts, Ms. Tina Morris, Mrs. Lauren Blades, Ms. Voncia Molock, Ms. Ellena Walker, Mrs. Bethany Earing, Ms. Morgan Mann, Ms. Colleen Carney, C-SD’S Interact Club, a huge thank you for going above and beyond the call of duty in helping with the fair. A special thank you to students: Tyler Sears, Brook Corkran, Jerry Rice for helping with set up & break down…a huge undertaking. Thank you to DCTC for allowing us to borrow tables and chairs, and all who teachers who brought their classes over in the morning to peruse the fair. Lastly, thank you to the administration at CSDHS! We appreciate everything you do!

Tyonna Perkins Named “The 24: Maryland’s Emerging Scholars” Inaugural Award Winner!
BALTIMORE – March 18, 2024 – The Maryland Business Roundtable for Education (MBRT) is proud to announce Tyonna Perkins from Cambridge-South Dorchester High School in Dorchester County as one of the winners of The 24: Maryland's Emerging Scholars award. This prestigious award recognizes 24 high school students from across Maryland, each representing their school district, for their outstanding achievements in compassion initiatives, leadership and academic success.
The awardees were selected from a competitive pool of candidates based on their remarkable contributions to their communities, exemplary leadership within their schools, and exceptional academic performance. Additionally, extra points were awarded to students who have participated in MBRT programs and expressed intentions of pursuing a career in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).
"We are thrilled to honor these remarkable young individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to making a positive impact in their communities," said Sharon Markley Schreiber, Executive Director of the MBRT. "Their commitment to service, leadership, and academic excellence serves as an inspiration to us all."
The recipients were recognized at an award reception in Annapolis on March 13, 2024, following MBRT's signature Youth Congress Day event. The annual event brought together students, educators, government and business leaders to celebrate the achievements of Maryland's youth and to discuss the future of education and workforce development in the state.

Families,
State law requires that all public schools in Maryland survey students about school climate. The purpose of the survey is to gain valuable information about the quality and character of each school’s learning environment so that schools can promote a climate that supports student learning. Students in grades 9-11 will be taking the Maryland Schools Survey during regular school hours on Wednesday, March 20th. The survey will occur in their first period classes.
