🌟 Community Service Spotlight: Cambridge-South Dorchester High School Interact Club 🌟
On Tuesday, April 1st, our dedicated Interact Club members made a meaningful impact at the Baywater Animal Shelter! These compassionate students embraced the opportunity to care for the many animals that call the shelter home, offering them love, attention, and comfort.
Throughout the day, our students engaged in a variety of tasks, from cleaning up after the animals to ensuring they had fresh food and water. They took excited dogs on walks, giving them a chance to stretch their legs and enjoy the fresh air, and spent time playing with the affectionate cats and other animals, reminding them that they are not alone. Each act of kindness, no matter how small, meant the world to these animals, many of whom have been abandoned or are waiting for a forever home.
The Interact Club truly showed up for our community, demonstrating that love and care can make a significant difference in the lives of these animals. Their experience was both heartwarming and eye-opening, as they witnessed firsthand the impact that a little time and compassion can have on the well-being of these creatures.
If you’ve ever considered volunteering, fostering, or adopting a pet, now is the perfect time! These animals are longing for a second chance, and you could be the one to give it to them. Whether you have an hour to spare or a place in your home and heart for a new furry friend, your kindness can change a life. Let’s follow the example set by our incredible students and show up for the animals who need us most! 🐾❤️

On Wednesday, March 19, 37 students attended "Meet Hunter Aaron, Former Viking & Current U.S. Marine", a special event held both at Cambridge South Dorchester High School in the morning & Dorchester Career & Technology Center in the afternoon, in Mr. Tony Thomas' "Homeland Security" class. Hunter shared his personal story about graduating from high school, going to Salisbury University to get a Bachelor's Degree, going into the workforce, and then going to the United States Marines. His focus held several phenomenal messages for students about not being afraid to try new things, taking on leadership roles, travelling to other parts of the world, giving back to community, and serving above self. Students were engaged listening to all of his stories and asking great questions at the end of his presentation. Having DCPS Alumni come back and share experiences with students is one of the most dynamic components of Career Coaching. Students gain so much first-hand knowledge this way. Thank you, Hunter Aaron for coming back to share such valuable advice, and especially for serving our country. We are so proud of you.
